bq51013B qi reciever range configuration
« on: April 29, 2017, 08:14:32 pm »
Hi

I'm working on a project, and I'm using the bq51013B wireless reciever IC.
It all works fine, except that when offsetting the receiving coil from the charger(transmitting) platform the charger keeps pushing more current so that it can still transfer power to the receiving coil.
It can go up to 700mA at 5V which is 3.5W of dissipation even if the load on the other side is minimal, which causes the charger to heat up. Whats the easiest way to adjust the distance at which the power transfer is broken?
In the datasheet there is a FOD pin for Foreign Object Detection which on the eval module is tied via resistor to the current limit pin. I tried adjusting the current limit, but it has no effect on this.

Edit: The cause of the FOD not affecting anything might be from using a non WPC v1.1 compliant charging pad.
