Hello everyone,

I am currently looking to build a communication system using RJ11 cabling and cost-effective components that can operate as either master or slave devices.

The system should meet the following requirements:

Support at least 127 slave boards.
Each slave board must have its own unique ID.
Preferably, the IDs should be fixed (hardware-assigned/static) rather than configurable through software.
Communication distance should be up to 5 meters.
The network topology is not critical. It can be implemented either as:
A single bus line (daisy-chain), or
A star topology.
The solution should be as simple and inexpensive as possible.

I would appreciate any recommendations regarding suitable communication protocols, transceivers, or microcontrollers that could fulfill these requirements.
