Communication Protocol Analysis via Microcontroller Board
« on: December 26, 2020, 05:07:00 pm »
Hi there,

I hope you are doing well,

I have an idea for my master thesis. So, i want to make a communication protocol analyzer and monitor the datas on PC via software i coded
For the first stage, i need a kind of data acquisition system like below(or in the attached files):

Communuciaton bus i am interested in has 2 mbps bitrate, and manchester coding (±5V differantial voltage).

But i have no experience about high speed communcation signal processing. What do you suggest for? Should i use some kind of ADC/tranceiver or process the data directly via microcontroller with high sampling rate? In that case, is there any microcontroller you could propose with high msps?

Edit: By the way, writing ADC may cause misunderstanding. Scope of my evaluation is manchester-high, manchester-low and non-data(means no 1 or 0).

Thanks in advance,

Easiest option would be a Cypress FX2 and Sigrok. Then use some fast comparators to interface to the bus.
