CRT type 150ATM31A datasheet
« on: July 29, 2014, 02:42:26 am »
So, I bought this on a whim the other day from our local auction site:
Quote
Spare Kenwood-Trio oscilloscope tube,
fitted to CS-2100/2070 models
(tube type 150ATM31A)
Removed from scope with faulty boards and good bright display.
I was thinking it could be fun to fool around with.

Early searches don't reveal any info about driving it though. Can anyone suggest where I might find a datasheet? Or even schematics for the scope it's out of?

You will most likely be able to figure out the pinout by just looking through the glass on the neck of the tube. Look up a schematic of the scope that tube would have gone in. That's where I would start.

Hah! I have a Trio CS-2100 scope. Never was able to find a paper original or PDF manual. I ended up buying a photocopy which leaves a lot to be desired. It seems the original is mostly 2 and 3 fold foldout pages, printed double sided, with color board layouts. So the A4 sheets sticky-taped together copy is horrible. Also whoever did it then put it in a plastic cover ringbinder, so the sheets near the front and back have that effect where the pvc plasticiser has made the toner stick the sheets together, and transfer between the pages. Urgh. It's too nasty to consider doing a full scan for online archiving, unfortunately. If anyone knows of an original copy, please let me know.

It doesn't seem to include a detailed spec set for the CRT anywhere. A couple of relevant sheets below. I could scan the driver board schematics too if you like.

Hey, if you ever want to sell that tube, I'd like to buy it as a spare. Also did you mistype 150ATM31A when it's actually 150KTM31A ?
Or maybe it's a slight variant?

Thanks TerraHertz, that's a big help.

The model is actually 150ATM31A. I have no idea what the difference is.

It could be a different Phosphor.
I wonder if Trio offered different types?

Googling around for project ideas I found this: http://tubetime.us/?p=183

Well, it’s here! I’ve put together an open source release package for my CRT driver design. See all the glorious details at the GitHub project. It contains the fab data (Gerbers, NC drills, etc) as well as the CSV-formatted bills of materials for three boards. All the parts are available at Mouser Electronics (and the Mouser numbers are listed in the BOM).
That's the majority of the work out of the way!

TerraHertz,

I see the guy has listed another one:

Shipping to Aus could be a bitch though. Probably NZD60 or 70

Thanks. Now I'll have to open my Trio CS-2110 scope up and to try and identify the A vs K difference.
Mine has side illumination of the graticule, and I see that one has metal foil all around the edge of the faceplate. Maybe that's it?

Could be... The one I have has a gap at the bottom for illumination.
