Current sensor datasheet ACS 715
« on: August 03, 2014, 04:26:11 pm »
Hi, The datasheet for ACS 715 current sensor from allegro, shows a vout   from 1.5V to 4.3V for input current of  5A to 20A (page7 of datasheet). If we  want to measure from 0A-20A , then is it possible to measure below 5A? . It is stated in datasheet that it can measure from 0-20A , them why  the spec , can someone help me with this. Rgds

The swing of the output amp is limited. If you need to measure from 0 then you need a bipolar device.
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.

Sure. Though measuring very low current (ma for example) is likely difficult.

Likely due to reduced accuracy. Same thing with other high side sensors (different beast).

If you check page 9 you will find the full scale graph.
The graph in page 7 is probably showing the linear region? ( this is what it looks like for me )

The sensor is kind a noisy, take a look at page 10 of the data sheet.
