Custom Adapter Collection
« on: February 06, 2025, 07:19:49 pm »
This is an area for custom developed adapters and fixtures, making it easier for folks to find various types and configurations.

Hopefully others will also contribute.

Here's an adapter we just completed and should send off shortly (let us know if interested as we may need to order more), its for connecting all the various 4 BNC Connector Type LCR Meter Fixtures to the 4 Wire Banana Type Inputs on Bench type DMMs. Our specific reason for developing this is to allow the Split-Kelvin Type SMD Component LCR Meter Fixture to directly (sans cables) to the DMM with the full 4 Wire Kelvin Resistance measurement capability (Josh version shown).

Anyway, hope some folks find this interesting and maybe contribute.

Here's another similar concept for using the various cables/fixtures for the Battery Internal Test Meters like the YR1035+ and HRM-10.

Is the adapter working well in real life?

We haven't built (first post) the BNC to DMM adapter yet (soon tho), but the YR1035+ and HRM-10 cables to DMM adapters work very well. The HRM-10 has a nice Kelvin Clips Cable it comes with, and the YR1035+ has Coaxial Kelvin Probes that come with it, both are very nice and now work with all our various Bench DMMs (34401A, KS3465A, DMM6500, SDM3065X).

The mentioned LCR SMD Meter Fixture (link above) performs better than anything we have for Low Z Components, and why we want to use this with our DMMs. This is what drove the development for the BNC to DMM Adapter. From what we've experienced with the adapters for the Battery Internal Test Meter Cables, we expect the BNC to DMM adapter to behave just as well.

You can check with others wrt LCR Meter Fixture on how well this Split-Kelvin Technique works, and we want that Precision and Repeatability for Low Z SMD components directly available for our 6 1/2 Digit DMMs.

Edit: Updated images above larger size.

So the answer is yes, this (what we've built) works quite well in Real Life, otherwise we wouldn't have posted it ;)

BTW if anything we post doesn't work, we'll be the first to report such :-+

The Direct DMM 4 Wire Connect PCB originates from this thread sometime ago.

https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/ac-rms-dmm-tests/

This created some controversy about using a Squarewave as an AC RMS Reference Waveform. Our results confirmed what we thought when we designed the Squarewave Generator, and still does :-+

Edit: Well couldn't resist so grabbed the old DMM Reference PCB and plugged in a cheap 12V SMPS. Let it run with DMM for ~20 minutes and here's what we got (see post #21 from above). Note the Statistics Readings, judge for yourself.
