Datasheet problem

Maybe I'm blind but I can't find any indication as to which pin is pin 1?

I've purchased the display and there is no marking on the device itself.

bottom left picture there are pin 1 to 40 markings.

What a strange looking data sheet. I almost expected to find a buy one, get one free coupon somewhere in there.
