EPS Motor Controller
« on: October 05, 2015, 10:56:18 pm »
Now that electric power steering in cars has become popular, it's now possible to get a BLDC power steering motor for ~100$ off of ebay, or even less if you are handy and have a junkyard nearby. These things must be far cheaper than the equivalent off the shelf motor. Does anyone know of someone who has played around with these things?

They're more or less BLDC servo motors. As such, they would be good for DIY robotic applications, but I haven't been able to find much on repurposing them. Most likely because they're too complex for the average hobbyist.
