Function generator - inductor WTF
« on: September 27, 2013, 01:53:15 am »
This is a pretty bad copy of a schematic (3312A), so at first glance, I saw this inductor, and my first thought was "0.47 uH? Well, that's a bit small, I guess, but it kinda makes sense..."

But then I found it in the parts listing...

Yes, that says 0.0000004 uH. As in 400 femtohenrys. And yeah, that kinda looks like a "p", as in 0.47 picohenry.

Huh? Is this a misprint that somehow carried through to both schematic and listing? :o A 470 fH inductor would be a 9 micrometer long piece of 16 gauge wire...

Hi,

I am sure the schematic is correct and the parts list is wrong.

I found the same part 9100-3548 is used 85662A spectrum analyzer display.

In that part list it is described as 470nH.

Ha, yeah, I eventually found it by searching for the part number. I knew it wasn't 470fH! But it still threw tired and stupid me for a loop :-DD

I'm guessing the U should be a 7;  0.00000047H is right.
