fuzz buttons
« on: September 01, 2016, 05:38:27 pm »
Does anyone know where I can source some standard large (~100 mil OD) fuzz buttons (not custom) for a client project? If you have to ask what a fuzz button is then you are not any help, sorry.

Thanks

I must say, I had no idea that's what they were called, until I Googled it. Very interesting, and I HAVE seen them before, in their use as a grousing contact. Never seen them of any of the other uses they mention. Pretty interesting product - the web site has a complete history and information on how they are made.
BTW according to the web site, 100 mil is not a standard size. They go from 90 to 125. 100 would be a custom size.

Oh, so that's what the the "tinsel" scattered all over the point wiring of one of my old machines was. It was the remains of fuzz buttons (not original but installed later for grounding, it was apparenly operating into the 60s). I just thought they were for scrubbing your soldering iron.
