Gameboy Advance to HDMI and Cart Emulator Dev Board
« on: August 18, 2023, 12:08:40 am »
Hey, I was working on this awhile back and put it on the back burner but wanted to get some opinions on it and any suggestions that you guys might have.

The goal/idea behind the project is to eventually have a MB replacement for the GBA that includes a good chunk of the mods people try to fit in with the main focus being integrated "flash cart" (both GB/C and GBA) and video-out.

This dev board schematic (not at the PCB level yet) that I worked out should hopefully be enough to emulate some cartridges, take the video pixel-perfect scale it and output it over VGA/HDMI (I've already managed VGA with a smaller FPGA connected to GBA so it's included for ease of testing).

If you guys need any more details that I might've left out or questions let me know.

Do you guys think I'll get more suggestions if I post over in the PCB sub-forum as well?
I'm looking into getting this manufactured and ideally assembled at somewhere like JLCPCB so save on having to try my hand at soldering BGA for the FPGA.
I'm also very new to routing so I'd need some advice on handling signals to avoid issues, like with the HDMI.
