Help injecting test sgnal to DUT
« on: November 13, 2025, 01:45:49 am »
Hello, I'm having a problem injecting a 1khz tone into an audio device. I've never had this problem before and I don't know if it is my sig gen, cable or scope. I'm feeding a tone from my sig gen (Tenma 2 Mghz sweep function gen) via a BNC to aligator clip cable (Probemaster) but the output amplitude starts jumping up and down randomly on the scope (Hantek DSO5202P). I've tried three different cables and they all do the same. I've hooked the sig gen directly to my scope (Probemaster BNC cable) and signal is clean. I've also generated a signal from my computer through an audio interface and it does the same thing, the amplitude randomly jumps up and down. What am I missing here? Listening to the tone through speakers it sounds clean and steady so I think it's probably that the scope isn't triggering on it correctly. I'm thinking I set something on the scope different because I've never seen this before. Any ideas? Thanks

Good Morning PantherCitySound,   What is the 'audio device' that you are feeding the signal into?   If the signal is clean and stable without the 'audio device', then try tracing the signal as it passes through it and see where it starts acting strange.   Keep us posted on your progress, please. :-+
