Identify this material!
« on: May 17, 2018, 12:39:29 pm »
Hi guys!!

Can anyone identify the material shown in the attached pictures? It is used at the back of a RFID reader coil. I'm assuming to isolate the magnetic field to just 'read' in one direction.

Google for "flexible ferrite sheet". Basically it stops the magnetic field at one direction. Metal plate would also do that, but the currents in the metal plate would also 'kill' the field in the wanted direction.

NFC tags that work on metal surface also use this stuff.

Unlikely, given the texture and the cost of mu metal.
