Lab PSU Modification
« on: August 18, 2026, 10:04:07 pm »
Hello. If somebody wants to modify one of these lab PSUs (see attached photo), let me know, an I’ll upload the full schematics.

The mod in question is related to the PSU output; all of these PSUs has the bad habit of discharge the caps when they are disabled.
So when you are doing certain projects, is a real kick in the ass not to have the ability to turn on-turn off, without residual voltage, because some projects admit a wide range of voltage to work.

This problem is not present in good lab PSUs, like HP, etc. But these ones are not the same.

And believe me: it is not as simple as trigger a relay. The prototype needed a lot of modifications to fine tune it. And time. And because I invested mine doing it, I can share it with all of you who are interested.

Also, they have another problem: when you change from a higher voltage to a lower one, must be dangerous for the DUT; if you’re using, say, a 20Vdc output, and want to switch to, say, 5Vdc, they all make a “curve” of discharge from 20Vdc to 5Vdc.

You can also PM me.
