LCR meter - External bias adapter
« on: August 04, 2013, 07:43:13 am »
Does anybody experience with building the external bias adapter for three terminal handheld LCR meter?
I would like to build one based on schematic and part list for HP/Agilent 16065C http://cp.literature.agilent.com/litweb/pdf/16065-90020.pdf
There is 200V version available http://cp.literature.agilent.com/litweb/pdf/16065-90011.pdf but 40V seems to be enough for basic voltage to capacitance measurements.
The most important will be 1uF 100V Polyethylene capacitor and 100u 100V electrolytic I suppose.
I will appreciate any commnets.

The 1u cap will be easy, polypropylene or polyester, use a 250V component and it will do with a quality brand unit like Epcos or Wima.

100uF units will be harder, but the same again about brand, and use low ESR units. Would probably be better to use 400V units, as these are available with high ripple current ratings and ultra low ESR as bulk power supply capacitors.
