max5035bupa does anyone use this ?

hi,

I'm trying to make a 5v 500mA power supply for my car.
I had some max5035 samples lying around so I decided to use them.
the ic heats a lot, and cut itself around 200mA, but it is given for 1A !!!
I build it following the datasheet schematic.

did I something wrong ? I used the dip package, it is given for 1A, and the SO package is for 500mA
