Open circuit voltage at the input to the 4 - 20mA loop
« on: February 29, 2016, 03:47:56 am »
What might be the range of open circuit voltages in a 4-20mA receiver?

Seems the answer is anyone of folowing 12, 15, 24, 36V while the older units may be operating at voltages higher than 36V.

common industrial supply voltage is 24V, however most controllers and similar support up to 48V on the input, 48V is generally the highest you will see,

If the 4-20 mA loop has a loop powered device, that  devices minimum voltage will determine the minimum voltage.

The most common supply voltage in industrial instrumentation and process control is nominally 24 VDC.
Actual voltage can range up to 26-28 VDC.
