Precise DC Electronic Load questions
« on: February 28, 2014, 08:04:53 pm »
Hi,
Im trying to design a DC Electronic Load and i want to ask what op amp should I use to control the mosfet. I'm trying to make this project as precise as i can so i dont mind buying a expensive op amp, but should it be a low noise, low offset or low drift? Op amp will be control by a 16 bit DAC.
Other question can i use a instrumental amplifier to measure voltage drop on a sense resistor and connect the output to the mosfet feedback op amp? I will use a small shunt resistor (about 0.01R) so i would need to add gain to the loop.
The voltage drop (current) and input voltage will be measured by a ADC and used to calculated the correct DAC value for constant Power or Resistance mode. Should i use a fast ADC to  prevent any oscillation in the circuit created by the delay from measuring current/voltage and setting the MOSFET value. Im thinking about using 10-50Hz ADC.
What other thinks should i consider in this design?
