Reverse engineering a thermal sensor
« on: December 13, 2021, 10:08:01 am »
I would like to use this sensor salvaged from a thermal camera to be used with an arduino.

Here is its back view

I have also went ahead and did continuity check on all components to figure out the schematics

IR sensor part is pretty easy to understand, what is the difficult part is how to get a reading on the main thermal sensor in the middle. It does have labels but do not understand them, does anyone have experience using a simillar sensor (no part number sadly to look into the datasheet.)

Here is my take on the pie.

So

Pin 1: it looks like a gate pin for an NMOS used for turning the IR led ON or OFF

Pin 2: look to be the signal pin for the reciever si i guess i should connect this to an analog pin of an arduino

Pin 3: look to be the power supply of the reciever, reading the voltage from its original board its 3.3v. So i should also supply it with 3.3 volts

Pin 4, 5, 9, 10: dont know how to connect these

Pin 6, 7, 8: Gnd pin

It's a thermopile.
This is a datasheet of a random thermopile with (what looks like) the same pinout https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0672/9409/files/ZTP-135SR-datasheet.pdf?v=1591981796

So its 2 sensors in 1 package? how do i extrapolate the temperature using those? i do see a resistance table from the sample datasheet, but how exactly im going to use both of those sensors? just ready the resistance of the thermistor and thats it?
