SCR identification
« on: May 01, 2014, 06:54:09 pm »
Hi,

I recently obtained some SCRs (at least I think they are), and I'm having a hard time finding any data on them.

Here's a few images.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

The device symbol would appear to confirm that it is an SCR.
The manufacturer's logo could likely be matched by spending a few minutes on Google image search.
The "8243" is almost certainly the date code (43rd workweek of 1982)
If you can't Google the "SRH060" or "SPL120", they are probably "house numbers" for some OEM.
You might be able to characterize them for yourself with a curve-tracer or equivalent.

The logo is SGS-Thompson, now ST Semiconductor.

Thanks awfully, both of you.

I really can't find shit on them, I guess I'll just have to play around with them and see what happens, like you say.

The package typically tops out with a 16A device, and guessing from the part number yours is a 12A variant. It might have a reverse voltage of 70V or 700V, about the easiest way to tell is to connect it to AC with a series 25W lamp and nothing connected to the gate and see if it breaks down. If it does it is a 70V device, if not 700V.
