Searching data about IC 082CPP (4 1/2 Digit A/D Converter)
« on: February 01, 2024, 07:08:34 pm »
Hi everyone, does anyone have some data about vintage 082CPP, a 4 1/2 Digit LED A/D Converter in a 30 pin DIP chip (a DIP 28 case with a golden 'bar', linking pins 1 & 30 together)? I was not able to identify manufacturer, Faichild perhaps. That IC was used in 20.000 pts meters, like OM20 (AOIP micro ohmmeter) or in some French meters (CdA / Chauvin Arnoux, but I was unable to find which ones). It drives LED digits with an SN/DS75492, and values are available in BCD format, hence using an external 74C48 segments BCD to 7-segment decoder.

Thanks for the data you could share  :-+

I only know of one 41/2 digit ADC in a similar 28pin package, the ICL7135 : https://www.farnell.com/datasheets/76687.pdf
Ignoring the bar could it be a rebranded/packaged version of it?

I think I see another set of markings on the IC? As if the 082CPP was an after label.

OT - from the ICL7135 datasheet, who is George?

Hi, many thanks to everyone for your answers :-+

Sadly, this is not the same component at all: 082CPP has 30 pins, and most important IIRC, a full scale of 200mV vs. 2V for the ICL7135. I've used the 7135 from time to time, an excellent component, having main drawback of that 2V FS (or 200mV if used with a chopper amplifier). Anyway, I've asked AOIP about the schematics of OM20 micro ohmmeter, and if they reply (generally, they do), I let you know.

And about George, WTF??? This not the first time I've used the ICL7135 datasheet, but never noticed that 'Easter egg' (?). If someone from Intersil passes by, any data about George is welcome ;D
