The video is transmitted from the quadcopter in the air to the ground via a 5.8GHz Rf link. When the signal degrades to much the monitor will blue screen. It takes a minimum of one second for the monitor to reset, which is a long time when your flying by reference to the video. The signal might have dropped out for a 100mS but you loose vision for a lot longer.
The chip has eeprom attached as well so it may have some programmability.
I'd thought of using the RSSI signal from the receiver to switch in a substitute sync signal but it's update rate is to slow.
Some have had success putting a DVR inline, but I thought I might try and hit the issue at the source.
