Small pin receptacles
« on: September 14, 2017, 03:52:21 pm »
Hello,

I am looking for small pin receptacles and would be very thankful for hints where to find a suitable type.

Background - At work I am using hot wire anemometry to measure the velocity of air in a wind tunnel, for instance in the boundary layer of an airfoil. Our hot wire probes (see picture) fits into a tube-shaped holder. In the bottom of the tube is a connector mating with the two pins at the rear of the probe (the pins on right side in the picture). The connectors in the current probe holders are rather simple and not as reliable as we would like them to be.

So, I am looking for alternatives. The key parts are the pin receptacles for the connector. The dimensions of the pins at the rear end of the probes are:

Pin diameter: 0.45 mm
Exposed pin length: 2.3 mm
Pin centre distance (pitch): 0.85 mm
The whole two-pin connector fits in a tube with 2 mm inside diameter.

I have checked at Mill-Max but they do not seem to have a receptacle which fits the pin diameter and in the same time has small enough an outside diameter for the required pitch.

Any suggestions?

Jonas
