smart lcd
« on: July 08, 2013, 08:25:04 pm »
Hi everybody

Even if it already exists, I've recently started to build a smart display, only for "fun". This display is based on 2.8' tft coming from ebay (a cheap one with a ILI9320 controler + touchscreen) and a good'old PIC32. I've also designed a small PCB (2 layers) to make this project cleaner.

All the source code is written in C and under GPL3 licence; the schematics & PCB are open source hardware.

For now, only the following 2D functions are implemented:
- Basic clipping
- Line, circle, rect, polygon; normal & filled
- Text (1BPP and 4BPP for pseudo AA)
- CLUT (4BPP & 8BPP + operations like black & white transform, gradient, alpha update)
- Sprite (8BPP)
- double buffering

By using these functions, I plan to make a whole GUI with some widgets (button, checkbox, radio, value box...), on a single layer (no windows manager). The final purpose is to get a small & easy-to-use GUI, drivable by a small microcontroller through a uart, like common smart displays.

Schematics & source code are in attachments.
More information (including a short video) are provided at http://herptronix.blogspot.fr/2013/07/open-source-smart-display.html (in french, sorry, I didn't translated yet :palm:)
