Soldering 6-pin .5mm pitch DFE (SON)
« on: July 26, 2015, 05:50:34 pm »
I'm designing a 4s 18650 protection pcb, which has 4 bq29703 protection ICs in (they are single cell ICs so one per cell). These have 6 pins and control two MOSFETs, controlling charging or discharging.

The bq29703 has a DFE package, which is leadless with a 0.5mm pin pitch (datasheet with drawings. I have a Hakko FX-888D soldering station and an ATTEN 858D heat gun. Do you think I could realistically solder this by hand? I've done SOT23-6 packages before but that's the smallest I've gone.

Thanks,
microbug
