ST7036 Icon Ram
« on: March 04, 2013, 05:12:11 am »
I got a EA DOG-M 163 character display with a Sitronix ST7036 chip, which is compatible with the Hitachi HD44780 and has a few extensions. The chip has something called "ICON RAM" but I don't understand how it is mapped to the actual display. Google yields little and the datasheets for the screen and chipset are vague about it. I can write to this ram, but no pixels change on the screen (other features of the screen work fine). Anyone familiar with this?
