Anybody have an interest in surveillance, CCTV or any type of detection/recording
and low power consumtion over long periods of time (Ex:
Trail Cameras AKA Game Camera)?
Anyone who has used a TrailCam knows their benifits:
- Long battery life (Ex: almost a year on 12 AAs)
- Fire on detection (Ex: PIR)
- Fast trigger time (under 1-2sec)
The problem with TrailCams is their physical shape/size: They are a brick, and it's hard to place a brick covertly in many areas such as urban settings, indoors, in a vehicle, etc.. or even in the woods. There are many CCTV products out there sold for covert surveillance (DVRs, Cams, Mics, Batt. Packs, etc.) that can be connected, shaped and arranged to fit the situation, but they seem to be lacking in the benifits that make a TrailCam usefull: Battery life and trigger time.
Imagine if there was a digital-recorder PCB you could buy (kind of like a
mini-DVR) but with the benifits of a TC listed above. You could then decide on your own power-source (Mains, Batt.), triggering device (PIR, Seismic, Sound, Door-switch, etc.), recording device (camera, FLIR, microphone, radio reciever, etc.), and an output for an illuminator or alarm ("Alarm Out").
Long battery-life and fast trigger-time. Anybody interested in this?
