Unuseable mobile phone screens
« on: May 21, 2024, 09:23:37 am »
I am replacing the screen on an older Motorola One Macro phone, and for $17 I get this fantastic display which unfortunately can't be used in any projects because there is no information available. It seems such a pity that such screens are inaccessible, such a lost resource and perhaps opportunity. There are a couple of older projects, one for the Iphone 4 but that's about all, a pity. :(

Yeah, from what little I know of LCDs, they require specific programming instructions/sequences that are unique to each screen and covered by NDAs, the lack of that data makes them unusable without significant reverse engineering effort. Please correct me if I am wrong I would love for them to be usable.

Cheapest way to reuse one is to reuse the entire phone. Learn a bit of app development and connect it to your project over USB.
