voltage limiter
« on: November 26, 2013, 09:06:15 am »
ok so heres the details guys.
Im making a Boba Fett helmet and i want the rangefinder to move electronically.
i used to be a mechanic and a typical window motor has a circuit that turns off the circuit when the window reaches its mechanical limit causing the motor to draw more voltage.
id like to make the circuit like that. i have no problem if it involves a IC chip. id like to run it off 3 max 9v's in parallel for longevity and dont mind if i need a voltage limiter to supply it. i want the power to later power a audrino later for some other projects in the helmet. i need it to move up and down with a corresponding direction momentary switch with no need to hold the switch during operation, and stop at 0 and 90 degrees. size is limited due to limited area in the helmet. i want to stay away from limit switches due to the complexity of all the parts. i wanna use either a small electric motor or a RC servo as the part is very light.
i hope i have enough info here to get some help

Stepper motor or model servo.  Both are simple/hard to drive depending on who you know.

Stepper motor would be my choice as it is mechanically more robust but perhaps heavier.  Have a look at someone like zappautomation or similar.

Don't hang you expectation too high, I just don't think people will come out with a complete circuit ready to build just for you, my 2 cents.  :P
