XGecu TL866II Plus programmer - old devices
« on: July 05, 2021, 10:43:02 am »
Don't know if this is the right place, but here goes

I need to program some old PLD types with my XGecu TL866II Plus

Lattice PALCE16V8Q-10JC

This type is not directly supported by the TL866II Plus (or the new T56)

Is it possible to select another similar PLD type?
Can a user "design" new devices in TL866II Plus?
Anybody had success with XGecu forum? I see it is in Chinese, but there are several requests for support for extra devices

I've tried to select others devices, like Atmel ATF16V8BQ, Lattice GAL16V8, but it alwalys ends in failure "OverCurrent Protection !"

My programmer:
Firmware version: 04.02.126
App Software Version:   V11.00  Date : 6.4th.2021

To add a new device  you have to know  timings / voltages etc ...

The tl866 software was not reversed to my knowledge

and yes  sometimes selcting another brand for certain parts may work ... or disabling   device ID check(s) ...

For extra devices support  you may wait a long time ... it depend of the developpers support

You have to find another programmer who already have the PAL xxxx number you need to program.

This is correct, however there is an open source project as an alternative program on UNIX systems.
See here: https://gitlab.com/DavidGriffith/minipro/
I don't know how viable it would be to modify and add a new "entry" in this project, but it's probably worth a shot!

I seem to recall someone wrote in another thread that the device specific support is actually in the MCU program, and that the Windows and Linux frontends are just that, frontends.

Supposedly all the burn profiles and whatnot are in the programmer, there is no option in the firmware for loading custom profiles or slow bit banging over USB.
