Beginners / RS232 intermitted issue
« Last post by tzc24 on Today at 07:06:37 am »
Hi,

I connected the DP9 with RS232 to communicate to the PPMC board through TeraTerm software. In order for me to configure my PPMC board i would need to choose the Boot from 0xfff00000 <P1000 vxWorks>? but due to this is not the first priority so i need to press"n" from my PC to PPMC board trough the RS232 protocol but when i press "n" sometime the PPMC board able to get respond but sometime it is not. If anyone had encountered the similar issue before?

Attached with the TeraTerm screenshot.

Kindly advice on this.

Thank you.

Best Regards,
tzc

This is a good way to achieve some functions that cannot be done by oscilloscope through python.
It takes a long time for oscilloscope to add functions, while scripting code takes a short time and is very flexible.
Others can also add their own needs and scripts.   :-+

I have been using it for years as well. It is on a computer along with a database and web server. I recommend using a plugin like "mosquitto-auth-plug" to read authentication info from database if you plan to increase the subscriber count. Otherwise you can define the access rights on mosquitto config files manually.

Not an issue in real-life usage.  At higher powers, sure.  But for SMD work?!  C'mon.

Meanwhile, the ability to put the microscope exactly where you want it, instantly, at any height desired, with near-zero effort, as well as to swing it away completely when desired, is a game-changer.
It is also not an issue with a critically damped or overdamped, articulated stand. I had a ear/nose/throat specialist demonstrate that to me, by checking an ear in just a few seconds. Good grief, could he fling his microscope.

Who needs them? [...]

Benta's question, which you were addressing, was specifically referring to British standards. And yes, it was a bit facetious, since most of the British standards today are essentially national editions of international standards, rather than local specialties using imperial units.

In the past, over my career, there have been many times that I needed a "published" standard. Many, dare I say MOST of those times, the length of that standard was hundreds of pages and the cost of that standard was hundreds of dollars, even over $1000 in some cases. This at a time when a hard cover book cost around $10 and even college texts around $50. The authors of the standard or more likely the company they worked for and which OWNED the copyright, were just plain greedy. They had it and if you wanted/needed a copy, you had to pay THEIR price.

And many times I did only need one or two pages of those hundreds and hundreds. Explaining that to a cost conscious manager can be difficult, to say the least.

There were times when I asked friends who worked for companies that were direct competitors of mine for a few copied pages. TV engineers were usually a friendly bunch because you never knew when you would need a favor in return. Of course, management didn't understand this either, even when it directly benefited them.

Having to pay >£100 for a 1960s standard that is just A5 and 10 pages is just cheeky. I can understand covering the costs of the creation but it does seem like a money-printing system with the added benefit of keeping the riff raff out.
Oh come on. They are never just 10 pages. The body of the document might be just half a page, specifying just a couple of measurements, but there will be 10s of pages of title, and preamble, and definition of terms and other waffle. :)

Hi,

If you only have one of them in the house and it's gone, you'll probably notice it sooner. ;)

So happy with today's ISO9001 company's so be prepared

I was a bit late discovering this game, having seen it on the sci-fi TV series "Fringe" being played by young Olivia.
