isolated DC converter input filtering
« on: June 09, 2019, 06:55:54 am »
There is a 47uF electrolytic on the same net as power input near the DC converter. But I didn't include the recommenced LC input filter. I did LC filter the output which wasn't needed for this isolator. Consumed output power on isolated side will be ~0.375W.

Is the lack of an input LC filter going to cause lots of noise?

The lacking LC filter will increase the noise on the input rail. This could lead to increased EMI.
Not sure if it would affect the output of the regulator.

Board was canceled and ordered board with LC filter on both sides of isolated buck module.

Diff filtering usually isn't as important as CM is.

Forget if I've used that module before, it might not be too bad.  It probably won't pass FCC Part 15 if that's important.
