What happen :
SMU B2901BL
The units work perfectly fine before the update. I purchase the unit New about 3.5 years ago. The FW update was an attempt (hope) to have the USB interface to work better with pyvisa-py
under linux. What I notice was that some remote command sent via LAN work fine but fail via USB.
I follow the instruction Keysight posted to update the FW.
During FW update an error happen.
The WinCE prompt came out saying "Application ManagedInstrumentGui.exe encounter a serius error and must shut down"
The keypad is useless at that point because that windows is a WinCE window so I had to power down the unit.
I later figure out that I could plug a mouse in the front pannel and say OK. However the damage was already done.
After reboot the machine try to update the FW and is asking confirmation but, the keypad is not responsive.
Web interface of the instrument is accessible via LAN and the FW version is 0.0.0.0 !
I guess what was there has been wipe out.
Interestingly, I can still attached the mouse on the front USB and click OK, the instrument briefly shows the instrument functions
but it complain the FW is not there. This make sense because the mouse is connected instead of the flash driver.
I downloaded the SW from keysight, Keysight Connection Expert, the instrument is recognized, *TST? return 0, which seems to be a good new.
Is there a procedure to update the FW that does not involve the front panel USB drive ?
