Component identify
« on: May 21, 2026, 06:45:06 pm »
Hello there, im trying to repair a PCB and im checking some components but i came across with this component
It says "AX 7AA", there is a vishay logo marked on it but there isnt any model. It looks like a diode but im not sure about that because the multimeter doesnt show any read on diode mode even trying in both directions, otherwise when i run it on resistance mode it reads 19.78Kohm
Does anyone know what kind of component is it? And how to identify components with no label on it. I will leave some pictures. Thank you :D
Btw sorry for my english im from mexico

Welcome to the forums :)
Yes it is a transient overvoltage protector TVS diode for the RS-485 data lines.
It should read open-circuit both ways with a multimeter, because it starts to conduct at +/-10V up.

Not sure if your Ohmmeter reading is with the MAX485 in the circuit.
It's not a short-circuit and hard to know about bias resistors in the IC.
