Digital clock unconnected resistor
« on: May 07, 2016, 05:37:42 pm »
On my digital clock I noticed that the Temperature readout on it has been a couple deg c out for quite some time so I decided to open it up to see if it had any trimmer pots inside with the hopes of adjusting it, while I sadly didn't find any trimmer pots I did find this:

I have never noticed an issue with the clocks functionality, That resistor capacitor connects +3v directly to the switch, and the switch seems to works fine as is.

So my question is, Do you guys reckon it was ever supposed to be connected on this configuration of the board?

Some extra images just in case people are interested in them (its either oct 2004 or 2002, its stamped inside but the last digit is messed up) :

Are you sure that is a resistor? It looks more like a ceramic capacitor to me.

Yes, you are correct. Just tested it.
Never done surface mount before and thought that they were resistors, my bad.

Just solder the little bastard where it should be. The other pad is next to it. (Seems manufacturing defect and poor quality control in the manuf. process)

I always say to myself... don't fix it unless it's broken
