Happy New Year to Everyone!

Have an LCD display that isn't working from a Buffalo Terra Station.

My first guess is the LCD need replacement. Not being super familiar with LCD displays I'm reaching out too see if anyone can help.
It is a 7 wire connection over a flat-flex connection. Not really sure if it is dot matrix or character.. It also lacks a reflector in the back because it is backlit.
 
It has the markings 1B14C on the flat-flex but doesn't seem to give any meaningful results upon searching.

It’s a character display, you can see the separate blocks.
7 wires is too less for standard 4bit interface, I assume it’s SPI

That's a COG 16x2 character LCD, serial interface - either I2C or SPI. You'll have to analyse the circuit to determine the pinout.

I could find 6 and 8 pin models, but haven't seen a 7-pin so far. Example:
