I didn't mean you did dismiss anyone but some folks on this forum do - forgetting that not everyone has a corporate credit card for shopping :)

Hi all, reviving an old thread since I just got 6 caps which I suspect are fake. Would you let me know what you think? The leads seem a bit rusty and the text and color are very dull... Are they fake or is it possible that these are genuine Panasonic FC after all?

That photo is pretty much of no use. No vent visible, no bottom visible, even series marking not visible.

So I just checked my caps box and I am 100% sure, this is a genuine Panasonic one, probably very old and very beaten up.
(My sample is not from ebay, Alibaba or other questionable sources...)

- slightly upward bent "T" venting, looks the same
- "+105oC" (note the "+")
- "[M] CE FC" (note the "CE", so probably newer)
- printing / coloring looks the same
- rubber seal looks the same

edit: the batch number printing is quite different, but that simply might have changed over the decades; as the "physical parts", i.e. can and seal, are the same, one could probably ignore this

I would return it, these really old caps might fail anytime soon, there is a reason for a stated "shelf life"...

FWIW I have pretty much stopped buying via eBay, more disappointments than good deals--I won't even remotely consider any eBay listing to be shipped from Asia. You wait 6 weeks to receive it, get some misrepresented pile of crap, and then wait 8 weeks for a refund...
