Phenolic Case Repair (Simpson260)
« on: June 28, 2022, 07:28:00 pm »
Hello friends, I am restoring an old Simpson 260 series 8M. Am looking for guidance on repairing the phenolic case. It is cracked & broken at one handle attachment point.  Does anyone have any suggestions on an adhesive to reassemble the pieces?  Will probably use fiberglass screen & epoxy inside to increase strength, just have to carefully watch clearances.
Advice is a dangerous gift, even from the wise to the wise.

I would use epoxy for the general gluing too.
Best Regards, Chris

Epoxy (high strength slow cure) and good prep work, everything rough and degreased.

Not sure if this is what you need, but a new case back is only $19.86 here...
