If you've already placed it in the car, make sure the PCB is not shorting via any metal below it. Otherwise, you might want to provide the forum with a little more information. Good luck!  :-+

I also have a Philips radio that's build in the same period in my old (1972) Trabant. I also happen to live in "Philipsland"
See on the back (or side) for the sticker with model info (something like 22rn...)

Or google for philips autoradio and find the picture to identify:
http://www.radiomuseum.org/images/radio/philips_radios/22rn351_00_901729.jpg

Parts are getting vintage these days but Philips still can deliver most of them

So, provide the info and maybe I can help

In the meanwhile solder out the audio amplifier and see if the fuse survives...

Once identified, you can request a -free- servicemanual. All manualsare available here but not all of them are digitised yet. Just searc (and request) on:
http://freeservicemanuals.info/en/

You are lucky to have a Philips because these are well-documented!
Have fun!

Have you checked the caps? Make sure they are working.

Could it be positive ground ?
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Not likely for a Philips... Blaupunkt had switchable (pos-neg 6/12V) but stopped this in about 1970
Also, the negative ground wouldn't matter as long the radio is not built in the car (I understood it is still on the workbench)

But, never too old to check it, I guess :)
