Rigol DS1102E Power Switch Replacement
« on: February 04, 2017, 07:14:05 pm »
In trying to replace the fan in my DS1102E I botched it, forgot to take the cap off the power switch, and ended up cracking the switch. It broke in 2 places so super glue isn't really holding too well. I came across these on ebay and they look like they're just about the right size. My only concern is that they're rated at 250V 5A, while the original is rated at 250v 8A:

Judging by the fact that it has a 2A fuse, and isn't terribly power hungry anyway, I think I might be able to get away with this switch, but I wanted some other opinions before I go and solder it in.

Edit: I should also note that I'm running this off of US mains power.

The eBay picture shows the switch to be an old stock, which is good and perfect for the replacement. You will be fine as the switch has a stamped 80A surge rating for inrush current.

If the replacement switch is brand new and from China, then who knows.
