Hi today i was with a good friend of mine looking arround in the NVram.
we discovered that in an original NVram they contain files like in the picture attached

need to be said:  - The condition is that it is of the original calibrated state from a still in working condition TDS-scope. (All 7000 series models welcome)

so who is willing to make a full export from his still in good condition NVRAM by running the 5 simple steps "as read only" below and upload it here.

What steps do you need to do to export/read your NVram fully :  [script attached below]

step 1:  browse in explorer to c:\vxboot and rename c:\vxboot\topscript.hw -> topscript.hw.bak  (vxboot can be hidden a folder) and connect the debug console and reboot your scope
step 2:  After the reboot and with the attached files copied to the vxboot folder, enter the next command in your terminal:  ( it stops shortly under Vxworks logo )
step 3:  enter code below
Code: [Select]
cd "pc:c:/vxBoot"
To make a complete backup of your nvram, use the following command:
step 4:  enter code below
Code: [Select]
< NVRAMToFile.txt
step 5:
RESULT: a nvrdump.bin is created in your vxboot.
Now you always have a good backup of your NVRAM for future failures.
please rename and post you nvrdump.bin here  ( nvrdump_TDS7xxx_B0xxxx.bin ]where xxx are scope version and number

dont forget to rename your topscript.hw.bak back again to topscript.hw in your windows explorer and reboot to get the original state.

We want to get factory calibration software out of that original exported file to share here later.

for more scripting like restore and empty new nvram

Maybe your subject is too far from repair or the good people are elsewhere.

Surely 7000 series is common enough these days but are there enough "hackers" for the task.

You're also left out exact renaming commands.
Unsure folks won't participate.
(of course I'm sure it helps)

No wire model.
Like how one can find that hidden folder or how console connection happens in practice.
Maybe there are folks who are uncertain and don't want any risks but are still interested.
On the other hand, maybe better this way.

ok the hidden folder is on the c drive  (and can be found when enabling "show system files") .
for the rest there are easy steps and we dont ask to explore your NVram we only ask to export the content for you (to have your backup from the continiously failing NVRAM)
and to upload the content here or in a DM?  So we can try to get to the Calibration stuff for these units.

but we need help from others.

Unfortunately this is many times the hardest part, to combine two non compatible things.
Here it needs an unusual device use and unusual user doing it, and for their own gear, what may not be the case, even majorly.
All that clearly diminishes possibilities pretty fast in already thin base.

Can't you rent a device and read that?
