tv power supply

Hi I'm having trouble getting this power supply to work going left side ac input the two caps are good x2 cap good bridge good elec cap good thermistor good  that filter next to the bridge is burned so I just bypassed it. it's there for the photo only but that ruddy fet  keeps popping diodes are good it's like the is a short somewhere could the big transformer be burned?  |O

SMPS transformers can fail (more often small ones and they'll fail open) but it is quite rare.
The most common is that the FET will short due to bad capacitors, overload if there is no OCP, bad solders, dead opto or TL431....
Anyway the odds are that once the FET has blown it has also destroyed the PWM IC which will also need replacing to not blow replacement FET.
First of all try to identify the initial cause of failure.

so having a look a lot closer i found the pwm controller (FAN7602) pic below with suspect gunge below it the other pic is the filter completely burned no idea what could cause the filter to burn up
