Toshiba laptop L300 backlight

When my Toshiba L300 laptop  is switched on , the display comes on fine for a couple of hours , but completely goes OFF after that.
The video display output is allrite since I can see a very faint image on the screen......my guess is that its either the CFL inverter or the CFL itself that's on its way out.
Any guesses on which I should replace first.....the inverter or the CFL itself?

its a crap 10 year old laptop, you could probably buy perfectly fine X220/X230 cheaper than another screen for this toshiba
but if you really want to, start with inverter
