[chinese] hakko FX-951 or Atten AT938D or Atten AT60D ?
« on: July 04, 2013, 11:57:20 am »
hi guys
looking to buy a soldering station under $100 (including shipping) and have three options. hakko FX951 made in china[not genuine hakko and Atten AT60D and Atten AT938D.

Hakko FX951

This looks like real deal, so I contacted hakko and they told me they do not manufacture hakko items in china. so this is a copy (even though it has hakko name and logo)

Atten AT60D

Atten AT938D

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/New-AT938D-60W-LCD-Show-Advanced-Soldering-Station-Thermo-Control-Anti-Static/709874192.html

unless there is a place to buy a genuine one under $100 (with shipping to Sri Lanka) I guess I'm limited to these three options.

Which one should I go for? or do you have any other suggested model? (I'm like something with digital display and at least 60W power)

Thanks

I've an atten at 60d.

It's very good for the price, but the quality of the plastic of the soldering iron in crap.

Instead the case one is very good and solid.

Based on their global site, they have distributors in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore.

Even if you find somebody willing to sell you a 220v or 230v version, you'll find out it's much more expensive than 110v version.

You end up cheaper buying a 110v US version along with a 220 to 110v converter (or even better a small 12-24v to 110v inverter you could use paired with an old laptop charger)

The only downsize is that you have more stuff taking space around you but you can easily hide it under your desk or by the wall socket somehow.

You can order a genuine hakko station from eBay here:

http://stores.ebay.com/NEI-Lamps-and-Electronics/HAKKO-SOLDERING-STATIONS-/_i.html?_fsub=16378302&_sid=82105093&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322

They'll probably ship to sri lanka. even with shipping costs it would be cheaper than the 230v, if it's the same as with my country.

Go for the Atten mate. I have one that I got for ~£30 and its good for light work at home (Few hours a week). If I was using it for anything more, I'd definitely upgrade to a JBC, we have those at work and they're brilliant.

Sure it's not the same seller that fooled me?

Paid $260ish for an cloned hakko from US, sent it back costed me another $100, got an new cloned hakko..
Gave up on that crap, and bought an JBC instead. The seller is convinced that it's not an fake, but the content of the solder station is very obvious..
