think Harakiri is the proper, and "committing 'Harry Carry' " is slang for it.
it means to commit suicide.

"In American media, particular television and film from the 1940s-1960s era, the term "hara-kiri" was often mispronounced and misromanized as "Harry Carry". (See, for example, the TV series McHale's Navy). In the 1980s, it was morphed to "Harry Caray", due to the popularity of the eponymous baseball announcer."

I still don't get why Americans are so proud of doing things the wrong way.

I would be surprised if anyone reads what you write there. And I would be even more surprised if anyone acts.

Many of us do believe in correct grammar, spelling and pronunciation.  It infuriates me to attempt to decipher some poorly written post only to be told "it's easier to type that way and you know what I meant anyway."

I filled in the survey.

Where it said.. "Tell us what brought you to dynamic search today"
I clicked "other" and put
"A friend said you were thinking of ruining your website"

heh

Also put some stuff about how the current website is perfect for engineers and they shouldn't let managers/marketing people make it all "pretty" and slow.

The parametric search is still there, but it is not obvious. If you click the small "View All", you go to parametric search.

What they just do not seem to understand is that with a paper catalog, you can often flick through thousands of parts in seconds to find what you want - particularly with parts like connectors and switches. They seem to think that this can be replaced with the painful pages showing only a handful of devices. It is  just not the same in any respect. The parametric search should be the default view.

I did try running the tutorial, but it just keeps stalling.

No matter what, it cant be worse then what RS components did to their site. They turned a perfectly useful site in to a total steaming pile of crap. Where I work we mostly order parts from RS compontes for various reasons, but I actually use farnell and mouser sites to looks for various parts that might be useful in what ever projekt we have going on, and then see if RS components have them in stock.

What did you like best about using the print catalog? What will you miss the most about it?

I wonder what Dave would write here..

The dynamic catalogue is neat, but kind of makes the line fuzzy between the part search, and I prefer a wide line between the two when they are necessary.

EXACTLY!  I've often said that I prefer paper catalogs for finding what I need, and websites for then ordering.  It's *SO* much easier to find switches, connectors, and other electromechanical and interconnection parts with pictures printed on paper!
