Hello, you are unlucky :(
I don't know how they are made inside but the failure mode is the same I have
seen in many lcd screens with "heat seal" adhesive connector tape that failed.
The ones I "repaired" were lcd status monitor that worked in hot and high vibration enviroment.

Looks like a classic symptom of a bad flat flex ribbon cable. One of the traces on the cable may be faulty. If you open it up and flexing the cable gives you back the line then you know its the cable.

If it is the cable it may be possible to fix if you are able to srape away and expose some metal to solder over the break.

Based on that DIY audio thread, it seems that you can either try the fix described in that thread or send it to Joel. Assuming it's no longer in warranty.

I've heard that things like that happen in TVs because of bad solder joints!

you can rework the LCD ribbon cable with a soldering iron on its lowest temp setting.
The challenge is getting to the vertical ribbon cable as its behind the glass :(

when i have some time i'll try and find a solution for the vertical lines as its driving me mad  |O

hello everybody,
I'm new on the forum,i read it a lot, lot of amazing skill there, well, I find a fluke 123 like new condition for a really good price, but, it has the same yellowish strange spot has Monittosan's one but in the right bottom corner.
Does someone have an idea of how an monochrome LCD can turn in yellow?
How to change that?
Thanks a lot
cheers
Charles
