I'm looking for a radio that is powered by user replaceable 18650 lithium-ion rechargeable batteries. I have a sizable cache of 18650 batteries and associated charging equipment, I would like to find equipment that can take advantage of these batteries. I'm primarily interested in handheld transceivers for use in emergency situations, but I'm interested in knowing more about any type of radio that takes 18650 batteries.
The only radio I know of at the moment which takes 18650 batteries is the Tecsun PL-880.
Hmm. So I'm guessing by the silence and the lack of search hits on google means these things just don't exist yet. This is a shame because the 18650 is probably the most common battery type in the world, practically every rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack uses these cells.
How about a radio that can be recharged via a 5V USB port? Or 12 VDC?
Alternatively, below is the battery bank that I own, it supports 3.6V, 5V, 6V, 9V, 12V, 15V, 16V, 19V, or 21V.
