Very nice overview  , I've never torn mine down and never had a need to really as they are a great and super reliable piece of equipment, yours could perhaps be a cheap nasty knockoff of my Kenwood which I have had for well over 20 years. I remember when I first got it for the purpose of building antennas I ran around checking the resonant frequency of everything in sight, the kettle, the toaster, the clothes line but I could never catch the neighbours cat.

Kenwood & Trio are the same company.

Back in the day,(early '60s) in Oz,their products were sold as Trio,then later as Kenwood.
Apparently they stayed Trio in some countries.

I have a 1980s TM201A 2m rig that came from the UK,& has the Trio name.(great little radio--only cost $40 at the Hamfest,as it had no mic)
The same thing bought in Aust or the USA was a Kenwood.

All I have is the Heathkit GD-1B

I have a heath GD-1B and a Millen dipper.
The Millen needs to be recapped but works reasonably well.
