a good ohmmeter?
« on: August 02, 2018, 08:39:38 am »
Hello

lest get one thing out of the way. I plan to make my own resistors for fun. no its not cheaper or better ect not the thing i want to talk about in this thread i do it "because I can" and for fun.

first I have a der-ee 5000 ESR but don't know how good or precise it is.

So my question is.
is there any good ohmmeters out there that doesn't break the bank? (max 100$ but cheaper is nice ofc)
or is the ESR as good as it gets below 100$?

Define "good" according to you, so fellows here can help.

Imo, this is pretty decent Ohm meter compared to ordinary handheld DMMs, even some expensive ones.

Get a 4 wire probe setup for your 5000 and check it against some precision resistors.
It's probably already quite accurate enough for you needs.

If you must have better consider getting a good bench DMM with 4 wire capability.

Hmm i will look into the 4-wire setup and do some experiments with precision resistors.
as well look around for bench dmm that would suit my needs to save up for.

but my Der-EE will suffice for now and thank you for the tips.
