Agilent 34410A / 34411A VFD to LED Display Conversion

Hi everyone,

We've tested several design options for the new display for the Agilent 34410A / 34411A, and we'd really appreciate some feedback from design professionals.

What do you think of this version?

@KungFuJosh @tooki what are your thoughts on the font, kerning and color?

First glance looks pretty good - only thing that looks a little off is the error annunciator, is the font a little bigger on that? Is that copying the original, or a limitation of the manufacturing process or something? Note that I am NOT a "design professional", just somewhat fussy!

While I lucked out with a good VFD on the unit I bought, I think you'll be pretty popular offering a display replacement that costs less than a whole extra meter!

Edit: Should have looked a bit closer, Josh is totally right about the kerning. Still overall looks pretty nice though.

I would recommend either selecting a different font, or fixing the kerning. The kerning is a bit sloppy.

Some fonts are better by default, but it also depends on the program you did the layout with. What did you do the layout with?

Thanks a lot, Josh! Graphics and font design definitely aren't my strong side, so that's why I asked the community.
I passed your feedback to our designer. Let's see what they come up with in the next revision.

He was trying to match the original display as closely as possible. The "ERROR" annunciator on the original is actually a little crooked

Just to be 110% sure, is there a red LED? so it will be a true tricolor display?
Many could miss this crucial little detail.
